Believe it or not, it used to be called a watch pocket, because in the very old days, people did not have wristwatches, they had pocket watches. But after people ditched pocket watches, they still made the jeans with the pocket and people found other uses for it, like for keys and coins and lighters and whatnot. I guess most people now call it a coin pocket.

It is meant to be small pocket for coins, but they are making too small, you can put two dollars and keep them for the bridge as emergency money.
