My daughter hardley ever ate anything in the morning,(and she slept through the night) and she did that until she was probably 6 or 7 months, Now, at 11 months, she eats pretty regular all day, But she was ALWAYS in the 80% or higher for her weight, so as long as he keeps gaining weight, dont waste anymore time worrying about that, im sure there is always something else to worry about.
There always is with a baby.

When you are bottlefeeding your baby, it is easy to tell if your baby is getting enough to eat. You can just read how many ounces your baby has eaten. When the bottle is finished, you can rest assured that your baby is getting plenty of nourishment. But when you are breastfeeding, it is not that easy. Many nursing mothers are unsure of how much milk their babies are actually getting.
If you are concered do go to the DR appt. AND LET YOUR DR KNOW YOU ARE CONCERED.
Breastfeeding, without the use of bottles, makes it difficult to tell exactly how much food your baby is actually getting. Mothers don't have fluid ounces written on the sides of their breasts, so how can they tell if their baby is getting enough milk?
Most doctors will tell you that if your baby has a steady weight gain, even a few ounces a week, then they are getting enough food. But, a baby's weight gain can flucuate from week to week. If there is a problem, though, your doctor will let you know.
If your baby is eating frequently, about every two to four hours, then chances are, they are getting enough milk. A baby should eat between eight to twelve times a day. Keep track to be sure.
When your baby seems to thrive, that is a good sign of nourishment. They will be happy, alert and active.
Try to drain both breasts at each feeding. Switch back and forth from each side until both breast feel soft. Your baby should either fall asleep or seem extremely content and satisfied after they have gotten a full feeding.
The best way to tell if your breastfed baby is getting enough milk to eat is if they are wetting their diapers about six to eight times a day and having at least two bowel movements a day. Of course, this will change when they reach six weeks of age, but by then you hopefully will have established a good nursing routine and your baby will let you know if they are getting plenty of milk to eat

This is fine. Every baby is different. A baby only needs a certain amount of calories each day. Once they have consumed that amount they do not need more. If your baby eats more during the day, he won't need as much at night. As long as he is consistantly gaining weight you should not worry. And be glad you get to sleep so well. Congratulations!

It is fine. Babies at his age can start sleeping 6-8 hrs at night. So, it is fine he isn't eating much. Maybe he will sleep soon for you. If you use a pacifier you may want to have your hubby get up and give him that at 2 am. Then maybe he will sleep 12 am- 5 am.
He is getting what he needs or he would be crying!

That's perfectly fine. My babies were fed pumped breastmilk too. His weight sounds good. I think you are doing an outstanding job. Not many who ridicule pumpers could do what we do (in my case did, I weaned my now 9 month old off breastmilk 3 months ago). Cassandra can go to hell. It's your choice. Ask your dr if you really have concerns. Baby sounds A ok though. Good for you.

i think he's doing great, he will let you know when he's hungry. His belly is tiny, just as long as he's gaining weight. sounds like he's eating every 3 hours and that should be fine. he'll have a growth spurt at about 3 months and probably eat more frequently for a while and then slow down again, but by all means let your doctor know, they will ask about feeding any way.

If he is putting on weight and eating when he's hungry he's fine.
This is the most commonly asked question by new moms.
he's perfectly fine. he will eat more as he grows, and his routines change.
Babies will not let you let them go hungry, they eat when hungry until theyre full, unless there is a serious medical problem, in which case they would lose weight.
:) Youre doing a great job, mom.

I don't think you can force a baby to eat, and I'm sure that he is ok. I would get concerned if he started loosing weight, but if that doesn't happen, I would be very gratefull that he doesn't need much in the night! Maybe he'll soon sleep through!!!!

If he doesn't want to eat a lot at night count your blessings! This could mean that he will start sleeping through the night! If he is hungry, he will let you know.

My baby is 5 1/2 weeks. My doctor tells me as long as the baby is NOT losing weight., you can feed on demand. Does he have any symptoms of fever or anything?
