The lions of Tsavo in the late 1800's when they were working on a railroad over in Africa were about 500 pounds. Which is unusual since 450 pounds is a good sized lion. The tigers of the Sundurbans, which are Bengal tigers, can get to 550 pounds. In terms of it's strength for its size tigers are up there with the jaguar and leopard. A tiger can kill an elephant (or it can lose the fight and be killed by the elephant is some cases, or the elephant could flee) but a lion cannot kill an elephant, not by itself. Pound for pound the tiger is more powerfully built than the lion. It can drag a 2,000 pound buffalo over a fence if it wants to. Lions are not quite this strong. However, a pride of 12 lions is more powerful than any single tiger or bear or any other large predator.

Tigers are not only built sturdy, but also has enormous strength and running speed when comparing to Lion. No prey can escape from a Tiger. It also has the sense of scenting the blood. The basic characters of these animals are -
Tigers are the largest and heaviest cats in the world[4]. Although different subspecies of tiger have different characteristics, in general male tigers weigh between 200 and 320 kg (440 lb and 700 lb) and females between 120 and 181 kg (265 lb and 400 lb). At an average, males are between 2.6 and 3.3 metres (8 feet 6 inches to 10 feet 8 inch) in length, and females are between 2.3 and 2.75 metres (7 ft 6 in and 9 ft) in length. Of the living subspecies, Sumatran tigers are the smallest, and Amur or Siberian Tigers are the largest.
The lion (Panthera leo) is a mammal of the family Felidae and one of four "big cats" in the genus Panthera. The lion is the third largest cat, after the liger and the tiger.
The male lion, easily recognized by his mane, can weigh between 150-225 kg (330-500 lb), but usually most males average around 186 kg (410 lb) and females range from 120-150 kg (260-330 lb)[5], and average around 125 kg (275 lb). In the wild, lions live for around 10–14 years, while in captivity they can live over 20 years.

Yes, tigers are by far the most powerful cats on earth. To begin with they are much larger than lions. A large lion may be 6 feet long. A bengal tiger can be 10 feet long. If it came to a showdown between an adult tiger and an adult lion, the lion wouldn't stand a chance. Not likely however, at least in nature, since lions are African and tigers are Asian.
