My Hubby had the same problem....He checked Ebay for some idea what prices to expect, but then went to a local game dealer to sell them (You know, the kind of place where kids sit around and play Magic and where you can find Super NES games!)
He got decent prices...And if you have really rare ones, game store shopkeepers can generally advise you where to try and sell them, if they can't give you fair value, be that Ebay, or wherevever.
