I am having persistent cough , and usually last for many days after I get a common cold . Does any know why this happens ?
Also initially I had lot of phlrgm , I tried stufs like mutinex and expectorent . Althought the cough has decreases , I still have heavy temptation to cough at times ... and I can feel sort of wheezing ... and lil phlegm while coughing . I also find it annoying and difficult to breathe when i get this cough . its a sharp cough not dry as such ..but sort of wheeezing feeling ... and a peculiar sound within when I cough .
I did a blood test and it okay ...
so what shud I do now ?

Yes, allegies can show up as coughs! I have the exact problem. For whatever reason right now it is acting up but I have an albuteral inhaler and I use benedryl along with Halls fruit breezers. They numb the throat and the cough is lass painfull. It should stop soon Also my doctor gave me these wonderfull yellow pearl like pills that I could swallow and would block the urge to cough. THey worked great but my RX ran out

It may be due to cold. I too suffer the same problem. I am detailing the medicine I take which gives me relief. Do try this, wish early recovery. Tab Deriphylin retard 300 mg one tablet thrice a day 2. Cheston syrup two tablespoons thrice a day.3.If the wheezing still persists tab Asthalin 2 mg twice a day depending on need.

Definately go back to the doctor. I could be asthma, never rule out anything. I had the same thing happen to me. The doctor gave me codeiene. That did not take care of the cough completely. In the end, I ended up on antibiotics to treat a bronchial infection. Go see your doc!!

You need to see a respiratory specialist. You could have a scarred lung from previous infections or any number of problems. Don't ignore this.

You should contact your doctor again and tell him everything you said here. There are too many things it could be to hazard a guess, even an educated one, in this venue. Good luck and good health to you!
