Mediken Inc was established by Mr. Yuichi Hyakusoku in October 1991.The name Mediken is short for " Media Kenkyujo " which Japanese translates to "Media Laboratories".

In 1992, Ebara Corporation, one of the world leading companies in Japan, had invested in Mediken to handle the service of Intervac Vacuum Systems cooperation with Ebara's subsidiary, Matsuzaka Co. (currently called Matsubo). Mediken opened its first office at the Fujisawa Plant of Ebara in Kanagawa.

On May 1st in 1994, Hyakusoku bought all the stocks and become the sole owner of Mediken. Then Hyakusoku relocated Mediken office to Shinbashi in Tokyo. After the relocation, Mediken has started importing instruments, production equipments for Magnetic and Optical Recording industries.

The laboratory of Mediken currently equips with class 100 Clean Booth, Large Power Supply, Cooling Water, Air Compressor and various types of technical instruments. Also by implementing CAD/CAM system, capability for designing original equipments has added to Mediken's businesses.

In year 2000, a new subsidiary company called Medic was established in order to handle the services of general installation, transferring the vacuum systems, and sales of used equipments. A large warehouse to stock used equipments is located near by Medic.

In year 2001, Mediken invested for the new fields. One is the Biotechnology field, having the partnership with ProteomTech Inc to create and distribute proteins for bio-pharmaceuticals. The other is to manufacture the lapping slurries. Mediken has made the facility for R&D in the headquarter and production placed in Mekong, Yamagata.
