Yes they are.I'm 12 weeks and had to have one in my 7th week because I miscarried one of my babys.Turns out I was 7 weeks not 8.It cant tell you the sex yet but, its pretty accurate to when conception was.You should have another one around 18-20 weeks to tell you the sex and how the babys growing.

Ultrasounds in the first trimester are far more accurate than later ultrasounds. An OB can tell the exact date of conception, within just a few days, for babies under 10 weeks.
Later ultrasounds, the date of conception & due date can be off by as much as 7-10 days.

Yes, sonograms in the first trimester are more accurate than ones at later dates because every baby grows differently once they begin to put on weight. For the most part when a pregnancy is beginning every baby goes through the same stages of developement and the measurements are almost identical. I just recently had a sonogram and I'm 6 weeks, it said exactly what I thought. Good luck to you and your baby!

YES.....in fact, even after you have had other ultrasounds throughout your pregnancy, they go by the first, because it can pin down the exact early development stages.
It determines the date of conception accurately, but you never know how early or late you will give birth. But yes, they use that first sonogram to determine due dates.

They are the most accurate for determining the date of conception and when the baby is due, as well as the estimated fetal age by measurements of the head, abdomen and femur of the fetus before too many variables come into play later in the pregnancy. They are not accurate for telling the sex of the baby.

Yes, they are always very accurate. The first is the best indication on the size of the baby, and can predict a pretty close due date too.

Your first earliest ultrasound gives the most accurate due date . Your doctor will always refere back to that ultrasound to monitor your baby's growth throughout your pregnancy

truthfully they do make errors. i wouldnt purchase something gender particular till the infant is born. alot of cases they do confuse the intercourse. its not too worry-free in spite of the undeniable fact that it does take place. we've been advised the 1st time a boy then a woman. we observed for sure it became a woman yet I easily have a cousin who they advised she became having a woman and he or she had a boy. so they're incorrect sometimes tho the main precise way of telling.

Usually yes, its not normally the readings that are inaccurate....when you find an inaccuracy its normally the sonographers at fault not the sonograph itself.....take note of your first reading, if you can find a sonographer that can read the picture properly, go with it.......it usually turns out correct

I think so, they use measurments of your amniotic fluids as well as the baby's growth to determin your dates
