I'm not aware of a Web site that will give you step-by-step instructions for any car. However, when I hear idling problems, I first think a vacuum leak. Leaking manifold vacuum will cause a poor idle, yet the car will run fine at higher RPMs.

To find a vacuum leak, lift the hood and listen carefully for any thin hose that may be hissing or whistling. Carefully run your fingers along the hose to feel for a vacuum leak. With a nine-year-old car, there is a very good chance that a vacuum hose is leaking. The good news is that it will usually cost only a couple dollars to fix.

NO you almost always have to purchase a book for your car. they try not to give you free info over the net so their book don't stop selling
I'd bet your problem is either one of your O2 sensors, An Idle air control, or a vacuum leak.
But your gonna have to buy the book whether it Chilton's or Haynes. Do you have a check engine light on? If so you can get it checked for free at Advanced auto parts. They usually have an OBD II scanner and will check it for you. They do it for free so you'll hopefully buy the part from them.

Grab a Haynes Manual. It'll have a maintenance schedule, a trouble shooting section and all repairs are easily explained and documented with pics. I'm just a weekend warrior when it comes to auto-repair, but I live off these books. Awesome resources.

You will not find a diagnostic book that will fit your needs. You must have some knowledge of mechanics before you dive in and destroy you car.

My guess is the coils or distributor cap if it has one.
try the wires and plugs first then the fuel filter.

Try AutoZones website....they have do it yourself manuals for free to view there. I used it and fixed my own car that my hubby said for weeks he couldn't figure the problem out with! Good luck!

to read is one thing. to repair - is another thing.
