With an economy that is doing well yet average wages are down (meaning that the richer are seriously getting rich while the middle class is disappearing), fighting a war we can't ever hope to win without mass genocide (not a bad idea mind you), openly corrupt politicans who care more for power then the people, an apathetic populace more concerned with Bradjolina then the fate of their nation, a border that is not only erasing jobs but our culture as well, we haven't had a decent president that unified a people since Kennedy, a nation so divided that you can now show the separation on a map, the global market place beginning to beat us, and the fact that every civilization before us fell for these exact same reasons mean that the sun is setting on the United States as the dominant power and perhaps as a civilization.

It's never too late, although it is the fate of every empire that the moment they think themselves all powerful the sun will indeed set on those complacent nations.
You are mistaken about an economy that's doing well. Chances are 1 in 4 that the US will slip into a depression, I read this morning in a European financial. You have massed up an enormous budget deficit.
And it is true that the rich are grabbing more and more whereas the other people earn less. That too is bad for the economy.
But I believe elections are coming up within a reasonable time in the US. There's your chance.

It is already too late, since every president we get is worse than the president before. There will no longer be a middle class, you will be either rich or poor, and this is sad. most companies are taking their business elsewhere, I don't know why everyone else cannot see that we are on a road to self destruction, with more countries hating us, eventually no one will want to deal with us, and china will become world power. Maybe it's our education system that is beating us, because all of our politicians seems a bit ignorant about foreign affairs and diplomacy. They can not realize that their selfish and greedy actions are affecting all of us. When another country become world power and start telling us what to do, and mingling into our business like we are doing to them, we will realize the price of our ignorance.
Yes, it is too late to save our nation, unless we find a remedy to this political corruption we have going on, which I doubt.

It seems to be going that way to me also. The hatred within political parties is the most devisive thing in our society right now. It's harder and meaner than I believe it ever was in the past. Bad mouthing and mud slinging always has happened during elections, but this continued with the added spice of lies and real personal hatred throughout whatever type of administration we have.
Is there a large group out there that seems good in both Democrat and Republican leaders. Name calling seems to be all we hear. Especially from the parrot/related public.
Sometimes I think I am the only, yes the only person, who has reasonably taken a look at Clinton, Bush II, Bush I, Reagan, Nixon, LBJ, and Kennedy and see good and bad in their political and personal actions. I wish a million people would say I'm wrong and that they are at least attempting to see both sides of all these issues that face us. I left Carter off my list, even I am not a saint. But until recently he was one of the best EX Presidents, if that's saying something good.

I believe it is nearly too late; and think our society is doomed.

You're talking about all the symptoms, but failing to recognize the perpetrators. People don't want to believe, so they write it off as too fantastic, and stick their heads back in the sand. Much less work and effort that way. We've been trained to be apathetic. People just don't want to do the work or make the sacrifices necessary to stop this downward process. We've become SO accustomed to having all our needs/wants provided, that we have forgotten what it's like to have to fight for them.

Soon enough, we will find out.

Like the Nazis in Germany, and the McCarthy supporters of the1950's, there are those who believe their knee-jerk reactions to fear are somehow the patriotic thing to do. They are not merely the opposing opinion, but the enemy itself. Globalization is deliberate, not accidental, and these folks are loyal to those selling us all off into eventual slavery and worldwide oppression. Too enamored with their own self-righteousness to see the forest for the trees.

Are we doomed? For the moment, yes. Until things get bad enough for EVERYONE to wake up, we will not have the power to stop it.

Searches to do (for starters):
Trilateral Commission
U.S. Federal Reserve (privately owned)
World Bank

All religions are very bad for this country and have a big impact on the conservatives' philosophy. They don't care cause they actually think God will take care of them!

My precious precious father died unexpectedly this year and only days before he died, he said, "I will not live to see my country get back on track." As a retired Navy man, it broke his heart to see what America has become. Although, he also started saying America is nothing but a white supremacist empire and we've been putting on airs thinking we're all that.

It doesn't look to me like there's any hope. I live in a red state, so it's particularly discouraging here, but I think the media accentuates the stupid, inactive Americans. The media wants us to be discouraged and uninvolved!

Getting out into the real world, working on projects, joining with others who care and are committed to change is probably a better way to feel hope for the future.

Also, small sign of hope - a right wing relative of mine just forwarded me a link to loose change and said I needed to check it out!

I gave up when i had to stop working and paying taxes till this mess is over .I guess i have lost close to a million dollars not supporting the war .
I can not in good conscience work knowing that my tax dollars are used to invade other nations that have not attack america .
I am fortunate to be able to do as i please and to refrain from mentioning my brutle parents and the profiting they did from poor workers in the groves makes me able to enjoy a certain amount of freedom others do not have .The land is more valuable as realestate these days then as orange groves .
We have gone down the tubes a long time ago .
The field is not level or even close to it .Mountains are here and there and below them are the valleys filled with those who seek to climb the mountains but can nt because of all the government restrictions impossed .

If you have ever read about the fall of the Roman Empire, there are some shockingly similarities. I can't say that I'm holding out much hope that we can avoid it either.

Just look at these boards, for instance. People would rather label and stereotype each other rather than come up with actual solutions to the problems that are plaguing our country. I guess calling people names and dividing our country from within is just easier than working to come up with real solutions.

Nonsense and more nonsense. They said this stuff in the 60's and other decades as well.
You can be rich in this country. Work and come up with the idea. Wealthy people are to be revered and looked up at, not made scapegoats out of. More people than ever own homes now.

I think we do have serious problems. Here are some of my solutions:

*Work on ending this Politically correct Communist garbage. Its a cancer killing us.

*Build an electrified fence around Mexico. Its ok for people just to cross our borders and demand jobs and benefits? Most Americans are sick of it. We let in over 1 million LEGAL immigrants each year, thats more than enough!

*Get tougher on terror. Start executing prisoners, now!

*Any media people who leak military secrets or try to harm our country should be arrested, tried and jailed for treason. Hear that NY Times? These criminals are going above and beyond free speech. They are providing aid and comfort to our enemies.

*End the IRS, and go to the Fair Tax flat tax. No taxes out of your paycheck! No filing taxes! No IRS! www.fairtax.org

You pretty much but it into words and it makes more sense than I thought. I really never looked at it like that before. The only thing we can do he hope and hope for the best and I am sure there is going to be away.
