i have etrust antivirus on my computer how do i know if its working?

it must have some taskbar icon representing that it is running. else press ALT+Cntrl+Del and see in the task manager whether the exe is running or not.

else, goto administrative tools->services and look for the status of the E-Trust AV, It should be "running" and start up type should be "Automatic"

Go to some warez sites. Then you will know it is working.

There is a harmless test virus called EICAR that is used exclusively for that purpose. You can download it here:
