Well i think you obviously have outdoor enviroment for to care for a donkey,if not youd not ask such a question, oresle its not real,If real why would this be insulting,we all love animals and none is offensive, all animals are loyal, and faithfull, listen to you, dont answer back, are always there when your sad,and many dont think so but show love is such a way they become part of the family, nothing insulting about it hon, your mum must like donkeys again or youd not ask this,or are you being a donkey and playing with us all.lol.good luck and as someone said we will find a good name-faithfull a donkey than a human friend.xxx

It is if she is happy to look after it. They need the same sort of requirements as horses, warm shelter in winter, solid food, hay and blacksmith/veterinary attention. This can be very expensive, and time consuming and not everyone is willing to do this. It can also be difficult to find a livery yard to take on your donkey, as they play host to lung-worm which can seriously affect horses. If she has her own land, then they can be bought cheaply and are fun.
If you want to treat her to the gift of a donkey, why not adopt one for her from charities such as Bransby Home of Rest for Horses or the Donkey Sanctuary. You can get details of both by searching on the Internet.

I don't know about 'insulting' .... Donkeys are nice, but are you sure your mum would really like a donkey? Do you mean a real one or a stuffed one?

It does cause a few problems, do you have a local shop that could fit the donkey up with a pair of pyjamas and will the bed be big enough? if so go ahead, we all need a bit of company.

Do you have any evidence that your mother wants a donkey? If so, no problem. If not, it's absurd.
