I've wondered that. Like if old people now always dressed like that or if they just woke up one morning & thought "hmmm, I think I will find a nice grey cardigan to wear today" lol
I think to a certain extent it's a case of getting older & starting to wear clothes for comfort & practicality than fashion. My older sister has started to wear "comfy shoes" (Ugly brown lace-ups) But they don't have to be horrible in order to be comfy in my opinion. Maybe I need to have a word with her before she has gone too far! lol

I think it's inevitable. I hope that I'm content enough to not give damn about what I'm wearing lol. I'm sure we will have items of clothing that are decades old that we will keep because 'there's still some wear in it yet'. On the other hand we could be like those old people who wear tracksuits and trainers. We will of course buy jackets/cardigans that are identical to that of our partners so if we lose them on a daytrip to the seaside we can always check what we are wearing and look for someone dressed the same.
There is also that poem that goes 'when I'm old I can wear purple', this I think will be an inspiration to me when I'm older lol.

The older you get, the more you go for comfort over style, whatever "style" means. Everyone's always moaning about our aging population, maybe by the time we're wrinklies there will be someone designing cool clothes for the older set.
Ever consider that when you're on a pension you buy the most comfortable clothes you can afford and to heck with loooks? Cool clothes ain't cheap as you well know.

:)) No way! Majority of the people who are 45-55 don't have a fashion sense but the thing is it's because they didn't have a fashion sense when they were young either. My mom is around that age and her clothes are not like you described at all. She has tons of shoes for instance, all pretty, not one of the pairs is blue :)

What? You think you wake up at 40+ and have any insatiable urge to wear polyester? That's silly.

You will probably wear what you like. What you find. It all depends on if someone your age industries old people clothes to where they can wear what they do now.

We adapt with our body. If we have bad knees, we are less likely to buy a pair of tight jeans, instead we opt for a loose cord, that is less likely to hurt.
Its all about being comfortable.

It is tricky being older and fashionable, you are either old fashioned with bad clothes or mutton dressed as lamb if you dress young.
