PLEASE DO NOT LECTURE ME ABOUT HOW GOOD IT IS!!!!! I totally know that - I have a Master's Degree in Nutrition, so don't go there! I have been exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months, and I don't see any reason to stop until a year, unless some circumstances arise to make me feel differently. My question is.... Is there anyone that thinks they SHOULDN'T have breastfed for a full year???

People seem to be under the impression that I don't want to continue. I do - I love it! I was just wondering if anyone ever looked back and regreted it, that's all. And I didn't mean to sound pompus, I just don't want anyone wasting time trying to convince me it's good - I know that.

I would have to say the only thing i regret about breastfeeding for so long is my breast looked a little deflated for a few months after i stoped, they did pretty much go back to the way they were, but i didnt like looking at them in that few months.
hope that helps some.
congrats and good luck

I work full time, so I nursed and pumped milk from day one so my daughter would get use to the bottle. This might be the reason why she lost interest in nursing all together by 9 months. She never nursed for comfort - only for feeding. I continued to pump milk until she was 13 months. The last month I started her on whole milk as I weaned from pumping. I would just take it day by day. Sometimes babies make the decision early to stop nursing, as mine did. You have already given your baby a great start, so if you decide you no longer want to breastfeed, then don't. I would not do it abruptly though, so your baby gets use to either formula or pumped breastmilk - but I'm sure you know that.

I was planning to breastfeed my son for one year, and then pump and give him breastmilk in a bottle for the second year. At the end of the first year I decided that that was enough breast milk. I am glad that I stuck with it for the first year, but I don't regret putting him on milk at the begining of the second. I know this isn't exactly what you were asking...but I guess my reason for telling you this is because I think that you will know what is right for you and your baby! Every person is different. If you decide to go longer or shorter, don't feel bad about your decissions. Now that the first year is over, I think that I made the right choice for me and for my son. Also...a lot of people started trying to discourage me from breastfeeding at about 6 months, but I stuck with it...they thought he was so small and it was because of my milk, but they were wrong, and now he's nice and big and VERY health.

I breastfed my daughter until she was 14 months, and like you I loved it. I am now pregnant and I don't plan to do it that long. (I loved that time together that I could have done it a lot longer) But she was old enough that it was a hard habit to break. She could ask for it (in her own way) and she was stubborn enough to refuse a cup or whatever I was offering. It was a tough time for both of us. I am hoping that if I stop earlier, (around 7, 8, 9 months) it will be easier. I guess I'll have to see how it goes!

Since you have a Master's Degree in Nutrition(as do I) I'm assuming you just want to know the opinion of everyone else. I haven't read the responses but I'm sure they will be stop at a year or stop when the baby pulls your shirts up,etc. This question is useless and doesn't teach anyone anything.

I am happy to have breast-fed all my three babies, the first until 9 months, the second until 12 months, the third until she was 22 months and I don't regret it for a moment!
If I were to have a fourth baby, chances are I would breastfeed for up to 2 years or more.

I breastfed all three of my children for 12-13 months. While my boobs have suffered (!!!!!!!!), for our family, it was the right decision. Personally, I think beyond a year is a bit much. My youngest is 19 months old and I honestly COULD NOT imagine breastfeeding her at this age. She walks, talks and eats with a fork................it would be weird having her feeding off of me but that's just my opinion.

Yes and no, I continued to breastfeed one while pregnant with the next then tandem nursed. I wish in a way that I weaned before the baby was born because I found tandem nursing a bit irritating. I do think it was of benefit to the babies however. I just don't think I would do it again for my own comfort.

Sorry, if you can,I think you should. BUT, if you decide to stop, PLEASE do not feel guilty! You have to do what is best for your baby and YOU. You are not helping your child if this is bothering you. My first, breastfed 6months,and very difficult and stressful for me. My second, breastfed 1 year and it was a breeze! (but I was in "Mommy mode" already.) I also had a friend who could't handle breastfeeding at all, and she has two beautiful, intelligent kids.
Talk to your Ob/GYN. she will tell you what is best for YOU. You sound really stressed. Please call your Doctor and good luck. Whatever you choose, you and your baby will be fine.
