Yes they can. Pedro wasn't pitching like Pedro and he had been either hurt and/or ineffective most of the year and the Mets still won the division going away. But their other starters are going to have to step up. El Duque is always money in the post season but Glavine has been shaky his last few times out. It also wouldn't hurt to get quality outings from either Steve Trachsel or John Maine. The starting pitching isn't as rock solid as you'd like but I still think the Mets can go all the way.

well of course the odds would be better with a HEALTHY pedro, but the mets have done an awful lot of winning in 2006 without much help from him.

in fact, martinez has won only 3 games since may 3.....3 games in almost 5 months! yet despite this, the mets have gone on to run away with the nl east and comprise the best record in the national league.

They can. They dont need Pedro to win, they've been winning without him all year. If Pedro was healthy and could pitch like he's capable of, it would be a HUGE advantage for us Mets fans, but regardless, they can still win without him. With their lineup, if they can just get quality starts from Duque, Glavine, Trachsel and Maine, they'll be fine.

The Mets don't have that good of a chance anymore, but i see them in the NLCS with the Dodgers.
