I think you're onto something... I am sure the lack of activity in ones life leads to boredom. Boredom leads to eating/snacking. But there is also something else that contributes to the weight issue. And that is convenience.

Fast food, loaded with trans fat and no nutritional value. Prepared/box dinners... not as high in trans fat, but contains high sodium, and no nutritional value. I think that if we went back to making our meals. Spending some time in the kitchen, we would see a significant weight loss in society.

My mother prepared 98% of our meals, no one in my family struggles with obesity.

So to answer your question...Americans are lazy.

Maybe for a few but the main reason some Americans are obese is because they don't know proper nutrition, portion sizes, and fitness. And also, please don't generalize about all Americans being overweight/obese. There are way more average sized people than overweight people. I just hate it when people think of Americans as stupid fat people because we're not. People generalize way too much.

I'd say a few, not all. And not just Americans, it applies to everybody.

When you're bored and really have nothing to do, you tend to reach for food.
