I want to learn guitar, i currently have an acoustic and can play "smoke on the water" by deep purple. Im wanting to learn more, i kinda tried learning some stuff on my own using websites, but i dont think it's really working for me. I learnt the one song i know by someone teaching me one on one, would it be best for me to get private lessons and if so, where can i go in melbourne to get lessons, i dont want to pay too much.

Being I'm from the states and don't know of any perosnal lessons, I can't help there. But there a re numerous site's on the web, and if you're just wanting to learn songs I would go to http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ for tabs in Guitar Pro format. Guitar Pro is a program in which tabs can be formulated and then played back on your computer. So you get the sound to go along with the tab. And it goes along with the notes. You'd really have to see it to get what I'm saying so go to http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php?pg=download and download the demo version. Then start playing. But before you do all that learn the A, E, C, D, & F chords in the open form. Here's a link to all the chords known to man (supposedly) http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/misc/all_the_chords_crd.htm.
