I think I was more this way when I was younger. As I grew up I learned what it took to get the things I wanted. I remember growing up I came across a book of baby names than my mother had. I looked up mine and it said it was Gaelic and meant 'dweller of the stoney sea'. Looking back this would make sense because nothing seems to ever have been easy or given to me. Any of the things I have are because I have worked my @$$ off for them. But no matter how hard I work for something, seems the one thing you can generally count on is something(someone) coming along and screwing things up.
SO......are the things you want TRULY out of your reach ??? (if so, then you probably weren't meant to have them to begin with) Or are the within reach, just difficult to obtain ???? I've tend to find that anything worth having is worth working for.Things generally don't come quickly or easily. But if you TRULY want them, 'know' that it's 'right' and work towards them, I bet you can have whatever you want.

Yes, I sure do. All of this has to do with ambition. The more abitious you are, the more you want it. Your goals may be obtainable, but "out of reach" as you put it. Determination gets you there. yes, I feel frustrated at times, as I sense you do as well, but nothing stops the ambitious from trying. If you start thinking of things as "within reach", you will be surprised at how much more you will be able to "get".

Your reaction is a critical one for our species, though today people malign it frequently. Imagine if someone (many centuries ago in this example) wanted to accomplish something, like swim across a fast river to get to better hunting or protection. If they failed once and were inclined to walk away, we would not have progressed very far. But since we do not like failing (aka being told "no") we try harder to achieve the things that are hardest to achieve. Our culture is replete with expressions in support of this concept. Those would include: "If at first you don't succeed." "Get right back on that horse." "Only quitters lose."

This is called ambition,to dream a little bigger, reach a little higher then you think your able, then others believe your able.It is your soul crying out for victory in life.Nothing is impossible if you want it strongly enough you can achieve what you never dreamed you could, the outcome doesn;t matter what matters is,you went for it or not.Don't regret not reaching higher then you thought you could.

I was just reading about vulgarity in a writing by Ortega y Gasset. That's what poets run away from. And look for the unattainable.

I think this is the nature of most people.
We have what we don't want.
And we want what we can't have.
And I think this is a good thing because once you stop the dream, a part of us die's
