It's an old wive's tale that you can't eat chocolate and fried foods. They aren't really the cause of your acne. Most likely hormones are.

What you can do to help:
1. Keep your face clean. Use special acne products and everyone has their own favorites. I use biore cleansers (the warming in the evening and the scrub in the morning.
2. Use a toner. I prefer OxyPads but there are other good salicylic acid toners.
3. Use a mild benzoyl peroxide cream or gel. This is tougher because most out there is 10% and too strong isn't better. I use one made by Neutrogena that is only 2%.
4. Visit a dermatologist. This is well worth the money. Depending on what type of acne you have, the doc can recommend something like Retin A (which I've been using for 20 years) or in some cases, an oral antibiotic is helpful.
5. Drink LOTS of water. 8 cups a day minimum. Water helps flush all the toxins out of your body.
6. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in these foods are good for many of your body systems but especially your skin.
7. Sugar and junk food can mess with your entire body, in some cases causing permanent damage (in addition to ugly fat).
8. Regular exercise can help too, but be sure you cleanse after a workout!

In general eating a healthy diet with a minimum of junk food and rich in fruits and vegetables will reflect in better skin.

There's a Dr. Perricone out there that has a diet especially for good skin (you can find it on the net or buy his book). It is rich in salmon, nuts, olive oil, oatmeal, eggs, berries, brocolli, spinach and melons. I did his 3 day freebie diet and my skin looked a lot better. You should be eating those foods often, though your diet need not be limited to them.

Ultimately your skin is a reflection of what you put into your body.

oily and fried foods make one more prone to acne...acne is one such problem which is due to harmonal imbalances within the body...and its very natural to have them...u can avoid them by drinking lots of water about 8-10 glasses per day...it is a natural purifier which helps in purifying the body and thus prevents acne and cleanses ur skin and brings a natural glow on ur face.

If a person is very hairy and tends to get oily skin, they'll get pimples more often than not. Food has nothing to do with it, but good skin care can include eating a normal amount of foods containing vitamins C, A, E, & D. Normal amounts. Drink lots of water.

the best way to get rid of acne is to eat plenty of fruits and drink lots of water to flush out the germs and dirt from your body. Drinking lots of water can also help your skin to be moisturized and not dry. Also, sleep early! Sleeping too late at night is one of the factors why acne is produced.

food has nothing to do w/ it, that is just a myth, drink lots of water, nurse told me to drink like 48 ozs a day and 64 would be best (not for acne but for good health) but my mother in law had bad acne and for some reason dr told her drink so much water..., but she noticed after she did for awhile her acne went away
