Off the Kenya and wild life safari for our wedding anny soon. Advice is, if a wild rhino charges, just stand your ground. I know the wife will just stand there, which sounds dangerous- I'm planning to run like hell to distract it, which I think will impress her.

Plato the best thing to do is stand still and not move, then pray that you are downwind , should he charge put in first gear and put foot climb the nearest tree even if you have to shove the leopard out of the tree .

Rhinos have the worst eye sight, it is said their eyesight is in a huge of blue so if you near bushes (make sure you wear greenish safari clothing, khaki will do), no need to run, but if you are out in the open run in a straight line then when the rhino is closing up on you make a sharp corner to the left or right the rhino will run straight past you and by the time it stops you would have taken cover. Do not forget your cell phone just in case you need to communicate in such situations. It is a rare case you would be charged by a rhino, you will always be with the Park guards so no need to worry, Safari Njema!!!

Running from most wild animals acts like a red flag, so ONLY run if you can outrun the animal. Rhinos have bad eyesight, so standing still is based on the animal not being able to distinuish you too well, BUT if a RHINO is charging at me and I am out in the open, I will run. (Keep your wife between yourself and the Rhino and you should be OK).

You are the best! Impressing your wife by leaving her all alone in the face of danger sounds like something every man would want to do cos c'mon, no justice in being dead hero!! Someone mentioned you stand still, another said don't forget your cell phone.....All good advice but hang on, lets say you stand still and you remembered to bring your cell phone. Then of all times, your phone starts belting out your favourite Rock ring tone. Nothing like a Rhino who hates rock I promise you you'd be in so much trouble there wouldn't be enough help in this world for you.
But seriously, go easy on the shower gels and other scented stuff as Rhinoes rely on their fat noses to trace intruders best of luck.
