I'm personally against it.

With that said, many people incorrectly think that the American Civil War was about slavery. It was not! The Civil War was about states rights and how much control should the federal government have over the states.

It amazes me that some organizations still criticize southern history and want to bring up the slavery issue when slavery is still going on today in many African countries!!! This is well documented and many news stories have been out over the past decade of the African slave trade today!

To really deal with the issues of slavery, we need to focus on the here and now rather than ancient history. It is taking away the focus that many women and children are being sold into slavery as we speak!

History writes that the Civil War was fought to free the servants, in part that was one of two orders embedded in the minds of the union solders as they went off to fight. The other reason to justify War was in reunitiing the South(confederate states) with the North to form a more perfect Union. (Abe)
However, in the back drop The federalists/Big banking system schemed, contrived, manipulated, infiltrated the government structure of the North. The Confederate States had their own banking system one that the Rothchilds could not penetrate as they would be the benificiaries depending on the outcome of a Northern win. the Rothchilds could not stand for having the Separatist South. War was unheard of,nothing was spoken or even thought of by the North as both countries enjoyed each others company. Banks prevailed in convincing Northern officals that war was nessesary for the above two reasons. Well this certainly made sense that the South was wrong in their way of life
So war preparations were in the makings. the South cought wind of war and made a first strike, the war began, and ending in a Southern loss. the confederate solders and leaders all were repatriated(the ones who got caught) as Americans and were promptly shot and killed being put in mass graves, to ensure no other Confederacy would emerge . But to answer your question, any form of servitude is wrong. Slavery still remains today in everyones mind the Civil war was fought to free and unite so that all would become slaves.

Slavery has been going on far before history. It wasn't until the modern white Europeans and Americans sought to wipe this scourge from the earth. Unfortunately there were some Americans that had to be forced to stop it by war. It wasn't until modern times that extreme pressure mostly from England finally stopped overt slavery in the Muslim countries. In Islam, there are rules that govern slavery but it no longer acceptable to civilized countries and has therefore been pretty much been stopped.

Slavery is definitely wrong.

However, consider this...........
The South used slaves to work their plantations. However, most slave families had a house, food, and clothing furnished to them. They had Sundays off for worship and personal life, and many were allowed their own personal gardens.
In the North, people worked 12-15 hour days, 6 to 7 days a week, for very little money, in unsafe working conditions. They barely made enough to live in boarding houses, where sometimes 6 to 8 people would have to share a single room and often lived off of bread and gravy alone.

So define slavery........

Not as wrong as it is made out to be in the world of today..
Slavery was commonly practiced by man for many thousands of years and it is only within the past 150 yrs. that it has been abolished by Western Civilization...Slavery is still practiced in certain nations today and other forms of servitude which are mere technicalities away from being slavery are practiced in many nations.

Well that depend on what time period you are talking about and who is the group that are being en-slaved. There is no doubt that slavery is not a workable system and it should never have come into existence. For all it does is weaken your own existence and limit your own abilities to be creative and to survive on your own. The Egyptian, Greek and Roman Empires, are perfect examples of this. As for the slavery system in America, All that proved to be is an exercise in futility and show that America is just as inhumane as the rest of this world is and it never really grew to be the great nation that is should have been. Simply because no one sees that America is any better then they are. And that leads to them acting holier than thou so to speak. Slavery has the proven ability to be very decisive and it can divide you from your own. As well as open you up to be divided and conquered from within. When you become so depended on just one system Your own growth just stops's and America never recovered from that time period. And that is why the dark ages lasted for so long and that left open doors for the with-hunt mentally that has never stoped and others actions of mans in humanity to man to continue to exist even into modern times......

In biblical times, there were slaves...though not slaves in the way we know slavery to be. The slaves were given rights and were to be treated fairly (it's very detailed in the book of Exodus, and a master could lose his life over the way a slave was treat)...But evil hearts have changed the face of slavery and it cannot be instituted in today's society only because there is way too much potential for abuse.

Slavery was an act of survial that some took to extremes by beating and negelting and even torchering there slaves. Mind you that was what some did not all. Other treated there slaves and gave them freedom at the end of the term of work.
