In the back of your hard drive should be a port specifically for your speakers. It should have a little picture of some headphones over it, or say "audio".

in the back of the computer [the rectangle box] you will find three coloured holes, generally they are in a horizontal line, they will be of three colours..now plug the speaker cable into one of the three holes, if at first no sound is apparent, then try the next of the three holes. There should also be a plug that goes into an electrical outlet on the wall for power.
If you still get no sound try messing with the volume in the desktop toolbar.

On the back of most systems there are 3 small holes look for the one that looks like a speaker or they may be color coded. Just plug them in. Make sure to check on the bar at the bottom of your screen it shows you the volume, ajust it as you need
