the higher the karat the softer the ring i wouldn't recommend going higher than 18k for a ring but the price varies on thickness, white gold or yellow, are their and stones in the ring? A simple band might run you a few hundred with no stones no embellishments etc. good luck

Above some are correct. 24 karat is softer. They add a base metal to the gold like Nickle or Silver to make it stronger. The more the Base metal the lower the Karat. I work with my hands a lot, my Ring is only 10 Karat to keep it from bending.

That is too soft for a ring. I don't recommend buying that. A necklace would be more suitable.

A 24kt ring is more solid gold than a 18kt gold ring.
24kt is stronger than a 18kt ring.
