You need to disable auto complete.

in IE go to Tools-> Internet Options-> Content tab ->personal information-> Auto Complete -> untick the option to auto complete forms there..
and then also "Clear Forms"
that should help u out..

In FIREFOX you right click in that search box to open a pulldown menu and select DELETE from the menu by left click
