What does it matter if your friend is married? You're his friend and he cares for you. End of Story. Don't be reading too much into it.... You should feel flattered that he feels comfortable enough with your friendship to call you such things.

Some people just do that. Our friends wife calls everyone "love". As long as it is not only directed towards you. But if it is really bothering you as it sounds like it is and he is your friend maybe you cuold confide in him that it makes you feel uncomfortable.
When we get together with my husbands group of friends one of them has too much to drink and sometimes will touch me around the waste when he is talking to me. I told my husband and made it pretty obvious that it made me feel uncomfortable and now her doesn't do it. In this case though you'll probably have to tell him. Always remember that you teach people how to treat you. That's a Dr. Philism.

It's just a term on endearment, I call lots of my female friends sweet heart, I wouldn't worry about it - unless he does anything else to make you think he's interested!

So, sweetheart if you think your heart is not sweet you should check for blood sugar and if the result is positive(ie, if you have no sugar content in your blood) send your friend this report. After that I am sure he will never and ever call you Sweetheart. if it comes negative don't send him OK.

Honestly, I call even my ugly friends sweetheart. Its just a form of flurting, its harmless unless he is taking it farther. Even married people are allowed to flirt!

There are alot of people who call other people sweetheart. We know a waitress who calls everyone either honey or sweetheart.
Maybe that is the situation. If it bothers you then let him know.

It's not a term of affection, just a name. If he's southern, it's common. It's not meant to be derogatory either, nor is he flirting. Don't worry about it too much. You're looking too deep into one word.
