That question has always perplexed me. So much of their "base" is in the blue-collar sector, and the policies are certainly not directed at helping them in the least, and serve to make the rich richer and keep the poor in their own strata. But since the lower socioeconomic strata tends to rely on religion to get them through the night, the right wing neocons thought it best to adopt their position on some issues to bring in those who feel strongly in those individual issues, knowing that this is a group who don't feel that education or enlightenment or cultural understanding is of any value.
What they are doing is a travesty for the people of this nation and for the people of this world.

Yes! Why?! I guess because the current administration pretends to be Christian. It is very comforting to think that a "man of God" is in the driver's seat. But nothing could be further from the truth. The naivete in this country amazes and astounds me. It's politics-(Hello!)
We must be always prepared to look for hidden agendas from the get-go. We must be ever vigilant patriots- that means love your country and question everything politicians say. Look at both sides- who is funding them, where do they come from, what is their track record? Do they, their daddy, their friends, their cabinet members have oil interests that could lead us into war? Do they care about the middle class or working poor? Education, the environment? We must wake up. The control the people have is so limited to begin with (or is it?), I'm sure it suits greedy politicians just fine for us to be divided. That is why so many people must quit carrying around deluded beliefs about a party claiming to be what it is not.
(By the way, I am a Christian. A true one, who is not deluded by the lies of a president claiming to be one, and claiming to represent me.)

Because they think the liberals care less about their interests.
The funny thing is, if you talk to most conservatives, they will tell you that they hate Bush as he doesn't represent the staunch conservative base......problem is, they view the democrats as the evil godless people and therefore back Bush because it is the lesser of two evils.
God I love this country - nothing like letting the bully have his way because you hate the wimpy kid who just sites and picks his nose.

Because conservatives would follow their leader over a cliff if he told them to march there.
