When we use P.S. at the end of a letter or an email, what does it mean?

Why do we use it?

Thanks.

Post Script is when you leave an additional note after your main letter.

Specifically it means POST SCRIPT (after writing)

if you are writing a letter and you think of something you should have said earlier in the letter you just add it as a post script note, instead of going back up in the letter and trying to squeeze in the added info.

it made a lot more sense in the days when you were writing on paper. Now if you are using a computer it is just as easy to put the info exactly where it should be.

Good Question, In a day when nearly everything we do and say has an abbreviation it`s good to know what some of them mean.
A number of correct answers are already posted.

Post = "After" the main body is complete another injected point follows.

Script = The writing of the main body of the letter.

There are so many more that can come to mind as well, AD in Bible Scripture,
or
:30 PM or AM and they go on and on.
God Bless,
Jim

It means 'post script' and usually comes after you've written a note or letter to someone. It means you've left out a comment, and you would like to add it after the main part has been written. So, your adding it at the end.

post script. In other words, after you finished the letter you decided you had something else to say. Post means after and script refers to the fact you had already signed your letter

"Post Script" (which means "after the writing")
is used when the writer has completed the letter, but has an additional thought they want to include.
