I think the point is that bull terrior's etc have become a much needed fashion accessory for a certain group of people who don't know how to look after and train these animals

Slightly more PC yes, but anyway... :)

A lot of council estates are not very nice places, and by whatever reason they've arrived there (divorce, lost job, substance abuse, etc) many people feel the need for protection, and a big scary looking dog generally does this.

On the flip side, many people see these dogs as a status symbol (think "my dad's harder than yours" with dogs) and get the hardest most vicious things they can find. Usually these are chavs, and usually they live on council sink estates.

Personally, I'd prefer the dog licensing scheme back again - interview the prospective owner of *any* dog - even a chihuahua - and charge £150 for the privelage.

The little boy that was attacked by a Rottweiler earlier this week was not on a council estate but in an extremely residential area at his grandparents house, thick people are everywhere and you don't need to look in council estates to find them either, most of the 2 bob snobs in our town have large dogs to protect themselves from yobbos and burglaries, its not clever or funny to use a dog for that, blame the owners and not the dogs.

It was actually the snooty folks in tha manor houses that originally bred vicious attack dogs to hunt various animals and to guard their loot from the 'thick people'.

The 'thick people' than aquired the 'vicious attack dogs' as a status symbol, but aren't educated enough to realise that these animals can be dangerous.

Should you be more PC? No. I think perhaps you should be a little more educated before throwing statements like this around.

People on council estates have vicious dogs as a fashion accessory, and very few have them as a form of defence its usually more for a form of intimidation to people around them.

I have a rather vicious dog, but I live on a farm and anyone who is on my land hasn't got any reason to be so deserves to be maulled by my little cocker spaniel... People who live in built up areas shouldn't have vicious dogs because the dog has to see lots of different people, mine would only see the postman or people coming to pinch fruit.
