There will ALWAYS be a need for a nurse, especially now that the baby boomers are aging. Business is fickle. You can be at the top one day and flat on your azz the next. Nursing is good and steady and pays well.
If you have the money to start off your business then go for it. But remember, if it flops you'll have lost a lot of money too, so be sure.
You have to picture yourself in those roles and consider all the implications and consequences of the career path you take. Do plenty of research before deciding.

If you really want to be a nurse, you should go to nursing school. However, it is not the kind of career that you can just go into half-heartedly as it is physically and emotionally demanding. You are not too old to get into nursing. A lot of people choose nursing as a second career, therefore there will be many people your age or older in school. Then, if you have a business idea, you can start a business related to nursing, which is sure to be a profitable endeavor with the boomers aging and needing care. Internet cafe may not be the best idea with the widespread development of portable wireless devices.

A nursing career will require personal dedication because you will directly be in contact with patients most of the time. Are you people-oriented? How do you respond to irritable people ( people who are sick may be irritable because they are in pain)? Do you have the patience th deal with your parents or grand parents, when they violate doctor's orders? Are you capable of showing genuine concern for your patients, whether or not youre having a good day?
It is also a job that requires you to schedule everything around your shifts. Can you do manual work at least 12 hours a day, on the average? Can your physical make-up allow you to perform your duties?
Dont you mind dealing with pain, suffering and death; Would these depress you and prevent you from performing your task?
Can you look beyond the blood, filth, and vomit - and see the person who needs your personal attention and care?
I suggest you volunteer for a home for the aged or an orphanage to see if you have what it takes to give care to the sick.

While nursing is a noble profession and thank goodness there are folks out there willing to deal with sick people. Maybe it isn't for you at this point in your life. If your heart isn't in it, don't do it. If what you want, that makes you happy is to have your own business, then I say go for it. Well alot of money is subjective, along with that goes alot of hours of hard work to make "alot of money". If you're prepared to do what it takes to be successful, then do it. You won't be happy in this one life you've been given, if you follow the safe passage the whole way.
Oh, and you're just a pup! 30yrs is old. hugs

You have to have apassion for what u r doing If you do what yr husband suggests you will always resent him if u dont like it. It is a grueling job w long difficult hours Of course your own business is also long grueling hours but at least your in charge of it. Go with what you have the drive for, it wont work without the motivation when the tough times come it has to be your persistence to pull it off.
