She was very rude to you and you were very thoughtful and kind to do what you did - you should be happy and proud of what you did !!!

Sorry people. But i agree with jo. At the end of the day. You traveled all that way. And in that time you would have dicussed the problem with your mum. Only to get there just to stand by the door for a minute of to to give flowers. Now dont get me wrong. it started out to be a realy nice and kind thing to do. But surely you would of set out with the intention to stay there for a while. i'm sure your mum would not have minded waiting a few extra minute. i think you went all that way. you should have gone the extra mile. i would have done.

Mate, 50 miles round trip to go and give someone some flowers is super nice. her slamming the door in your face is rude.
Shame she slammed the door before you could take the flowers back. How ungrateful.

Gee i could do with a friend like you!
Your friend was rather rude in my opinion. now if she'd invited your mother in too that would have been more friendly but she didn't even extend an invite you your dear mum, and then when you explained why she shuts the door?!? next time save your money and tell her to call you when she's better and got some manners!

What a good friend you are to go and take some flowers.
It seems as if you were put on the spot a little bit.
Understand her anxiety as she is poorly and feeling down at the moment.
Just put it down to just that.
Make contact again to say that you prayed for her at home and if she does want you both to pray together volunteer yourself.
That's what friends are for..

Maybe your friend needed some spiritual help rather than a bunch of flowers. 10 minutes of your time, surely wasn't too much to ask for, you can still make amends by giving her a ring and letting her off load some of her problems.

I do not know if you are being naive to the notion that your friend sometimes need company and not just the flowers even if it is just for ten minutes,I would sympathize with you if you were a guy for being slow and unperceptive, but you are both girls ?right? If i were you I would confront my friend and ask her why the heck she was so feisty with me ,if she is a true friend she would apologize to you and you would accept it and move on to the next level

I feel sorry for you, that's no way to treat someone like yourself who was being thoughtful and doing such a kind act, the ungrateful so and so. Put it down to experience because there ain't no pleasing some people. I'm surprised that your friend didn't call back and apologise immediately if not sooner.

....she took the flowers...right? next time she gets sick...don't go to see her...call her and wish her well...how rude of her to slam the door in your face....you had your mother with you..how could you possibly leave her in the car for 10 minutes while you pray with your friend...you were considerate enough to travel that far, let her sniffle in her own snot next time....

No. She was being unreasonable and downright rude. Next time, save the flowers and your kind nature for someone who might appreciate them.
Bah. Some people!
