In marketing terms, I think of it more as enhancing the product. Seriously, though, there have been times where I have seen a star or model's picture without makeup and was amazed at how different they look with makeup. I love her show, but Oprah is a perfect example of this. Looks very different without makeup!
I think both genders buy "jeans that make my butt look good" or get a haircut that makes them look more handsome/more professional/thinner/taller etc. And then, you get into all the cosmetic surgeries ppl get to look better, etc.
Kind of odd that superficial things are so important, but they sure are to most ppl. You'd think what's inside would hold a lot more value!

False advertising. Don't get serious with anyone unless you've seen them without it. Oh by the way; I think push-up bras, silicon breasts, padded bras, and lip injections are also false advertising. I feel sorry for the poor guy after the false advertisers take off their clothes.

I personally wear no makeup but I don't think it is false advertising at all...I have seen some friends without makeupon, and with it on, and sometimes it is a huge improvement...and sometimes the woman is absolutely gorgeous with or without makeup (I am not absolutely gorgeous either way!) Like the way we wash our hair and cut our hair and shave to look better, I think makeup is just another way to try to improve yourself. I am not going to address the "sumberging inadquacies" except to say "No".

You're going to love this, because I AM A MAKE-UP REP. I hardly ever wear it. If I'm on a sales call, I wear it to show my product, but at home on my own time, it's bare face--flaws and all. I think it's about how comfortable we are in our own skin (literally). Yes, I think my make-up enhances my features and evens out my skin tone, but I still look like me. With the exception of women who cake it on like drag queens (no offense to drag queens), it's not a potion that will magically transform you into a beauty queen! Less is always more with cosmetics. I tell my clients the trick to applying make-up is to look as if you're not wearing any. Natural is the way to go.

None of these you suggested. It is not false advertising if you want to look fresher and less tired or if you want to cover your dark circles under the eyes. We shouldn't accuse people just because they want to look nicer and this has nothing to do with falsity.

I like to think of it as enhancing my attributes. I like to draw attention to my eyes because they are a very pretty blue and with the right makeup it makes them very stunning.

its for people that feel ugly and think the only way they look pretty is to plaster them selves with make up. as they think that is the only way to get a guy. i think people look better naturally as ever one has flaws with their looks but society has made it that you have to look perfect and if you dont then you are ugly
