DO plays a very important part in environmental ecology. The greater amount of DO in the water, the greater the range that animals can live in, which promotes species propogation. Also, DO is very important to cleaning up the environment. When we perform remedial actions to clean up spills and other problems, the ultimate goal is to increase the amount of DO so that bacteria will multiply and eat the contamination. While DO is only one factor in ecology, it is a monumentally important one.

One major thing right now is GLOBAL WARMING. Us humans, for many centuries have been burning fossil fuels, using cars-causing pollution. This has really affected the environment. Like, the weird weather patterns, esp. in Australia. Like one minute, it's as dry as a bone, and then next, it's flooding with rain!

Oxygen is a natural part of the environment and does no harm. It is processed by all breathing animals, and because the rain-forests are disappearing, may actually be beneficial.
