When you are traveling at a slow speed and turn a corner and hear clicking sounds that usually means your joints are shot and the boots are torn and all of the lubricant has leaked out.

Vibration, noise,
Look at this and see if you understand

A Constant Velocity Joints or CV joints are attached to each end of a drive shaft (see the picture).
The CV joints are needed to transfer the torque at a constant speed to steered wheels as well as to accommodate up and down motions of the suspension.

When you can hear it clattering. One way to check is to back the car up and listen while turning the wheel. If you hear a clatter you can assume it is bad. Also it may vibrate when going down the road. the back up test is a good one though. Also check the rubber boots, if they are broken then the joints may be bad.

I have had this problem myself and agree with J.D. and say that is how you can tell if it is the cv joint.

Usally, when you're driving and you hit just the slightest bump...if feels like you ran over a dead body...or...when you are turning you will feel and hear like a thumping sound around the wheel well area on the side that is bad...

You will hear a knocking or cracking noise on turns. Usually the boots will tear and they will loose the grease.
