Hi there

Computer software are programs contained on a CD, floppy disk or downloaded and that run on your computer. An example of this is microsoft windows xp and microsoft office. These programs are contained on a CD and are installed on the computer for use.

Your screen, keyboard and other physical parts contained inside your computer are hardware. Software is needed to make hardware devices work. For example, Windows XP makes hardware devices work. Hardware is required for using the internet. A modem for dialling up your internet soervice provider or for connection to a your broadband if you have broadband. There are many other hardware devices inside your computer which have various uses, for storing and retrieving data for example and playing music CDs.

Hope this helps.
