I have the same thing with hubby. What I do is put them in a hot load as soon as he takes them off. Then, after shopping around forever, I finally found a detergent that actually gets the smell out of his clothes. Try Arm and Hammer's detergent. It takes the smell out way better than the more expensive one's. I've been really happy with it after I switched. Good Luck!

Tell him to start using a antiperspirant . They control sweat. Deodorants only cover up the smell but you still sweet like a pig.
Most men use only a deodorant for some reason. The antiperspirant should help with the sweat but its the Bactria that causes the BO. you just cant keep putting it on and not wash between. If he has a lot of underarm hair make sure he uses enough product to penetrate the hair to the skin where it is needed.
Now for the clothes.
Try spraying the underarm area of the shirt with Shout. Then wash the shirt adding Oxy Clean to the regular detergent. This should help. Use a softener like Downy too. Don't wear the same shirt more then once. If you sweet on it and sweet again you will still get the Bactria and the smell

Wash them in Hot water and hang them outside in the sun for a day, then wash them again in good detergent...Make sure you don't put too many clothes in the dryer at one time as soon as they get dry hang them up.....The sun will kill the bacteria and that has to be done to get the smell out....The sun will do this believe me....My husband works on an oil rig and his clothes stink so bad when he comes home after being out for 2 weeks....I do the same thing, except I leave his clothes in the sun for a week, then wash them and all the smells from sweat and drilling oils are GONE!!!!!

Soak them in a bath of hot water and white vinegar. The vinegar will take the smell right out!
I just fill up my washer and dump in the vinegar and set a timer.

This is what works for me...
Fill washer, add !/2 Cup Pine-Sol added with detergent allow washer to agitate...Add clothes, allow washer to agitate until almost done...STOP washer...Allow clothes to sit in washer for a couple of hours...Restart washer from beginning of wash cycle...Finish wash cycle!!!
Occasionally may have to rewash clothes to eliminate Pine-Sol odor.

Believe it or not, a 2 liter of Pepsi. It will also get out fuel (diesel, gas, oil). I put my husbands uniforms in a separate load, dump a 2 liter of Pepsi in it along with my detergent. Voila!
