To get the smokey eye look what you need to do is first prime your eyes with a light powder.
Cover the eye lid with a medium colour and then working up to your eye brow use a hightlighting colour , then if you think of our eye lid as a kite you need to fill the outer edge, the c socket with a darker shade and no you don't need to use black!
With a slanted eyeshadow brush close your eye and from half way across your eye socket work outwards to a point and then down to your eye lashes, open your eye and then blend to follow your natural eye shape, keep applying like this until you are happy with the shade of colour and the using a blender blend you whole eye as you don't want lines everywhere.
Hey presto great smokey eyes

It is a very difficult thing to do and it took me forever to learn how not to look like I just go punched in the eye. Your best bet is to sit there for about and hour in front of the mirror with makeup and makeup remover and just keep retrying until you get the look you want. Only do one eye at a time. Everyone has different shaped eyes, so the application that works for one person may not be the best look for you. The good thing is that you already know what looks bad! Get a picture of a girl with smokey eyes, and just practice and practice until you get it the way you want it to look. However, if you have small or beady eyes, smokey eyes will not look good on you any way you do the application. Practice, practice practice! It is a difficult look to achieve, dont get frustrated! In the end, it'll be super sexy!!

The biggest tip is get a good quality eye crayon that can be smudged. Max Factor has one that has a little smudging brush on the top of one side, so its really a lot easier to get the smoky eye.

Basically, draw a thick line on the lashline, all the way from the corner of the eye to the outer corner, and a little on the underneath part of the outer corner. Use the smudger to smudge it until you have a look that is darker closer to your lashline and lighter on your lids. You can add a dab of grey eyeshadow and apply it smoothly into a small flick at the outer eye. Its a simpler way, but it really works well.

You need to invest in a really good eyeshadow brush so that you can blend it really well. (My fave is Ruby & Millie) Put a highlighter or a pale shadow from the upper half of your eyelid up to your eyebrows, then apply a dark shadow to your lids and make sure you blend it in the crease. Plenty of black mascara and a bit of eyeliner underneath your lower lashes should finish you off! Oh and also keep the rest of your face pretty plain, use a pale or clear lip gloss and a tiny bit of blusher to give you a glow, but keep all the focus on your eyes!

You put on solid eyeliner and then take a cu-tip and smudge it so that there is no visible line. For really dark you might also want to go over it with eyeshadow of the same color on the top and bottom. This can get messy if you smudge out to the nose area, so cleaning up the edges of the area with makeup remover on a cu-tip is a must.

Take a smudging eyeliner like Styli Style bullet in black or soft black and run it under your eyes and then take a smudger brush and gently smudge it. You can also get this look without eyeliner. just use eyeshadow and smudge it. Works everytime.

Fast and easy: apply your mascara on your lashes and rub it against your lid. Just take your finger and smear before it dries. If it dries to quickly, take a little lip gloss to lubricate it. Pretty much, mascara can be all you need for your eyes because it can be mascara, eyeliner, and shadow all together! :)
