Boy oh boy--the answers vary widely!! I thought it was one year old and dilute the juice. Call your Dr. or any Dr. and ask the Nurse.

You can start giving baby juice at 6 months. They don't need the sugar before then, and I would still dilute the juice 50/50 with water, even if it's the baby juice. Stick to apple, pear or prune juice. The acid in orange juice is too strong for their little tummies. And I would offer it in a cup, they learn pretty fast how to use their sippy cups. At a young age they should get about 2oz a day, and not more, not to replace their formula/breastmilk.

I usually started it around six months old. The thing to remember is to limit the amount of juice given. I usually gave just about 4 - 6 ounces a day. And please dilute it (aka: water it down). If you don't your baby will get diarrhea pretty bad. I usually did 1/2 juice and 1/2 water. Watch the diapers. If it (the poop) starts to get runny, no more juice for a while.

I gave my babies juice at 2 months of age but I did water it down. I think the doctors will tell you it needs to be later but I just kind of did what I thought was best for my babies and they are adults now that are happy and healthy. I fed them when they were hungry not when the doctors told me to! Just start with one flavor as to not introduce too many different types and then if there is an alergic reaction to anything you will be able to determine what it is!

I started mine with Gerber apple juice and deluted it with water at 4 months, but they were also eating rice cereal and fruit. Some babies can not tolerate it that soon. Make sure the nipple hole is small, they will try to suck it down like formula and get a little choked at first. Depends on your baby. You may want to call your pediatrician as well. He/she knows the developmental skills of your baby.
