Quiet and conducive environment is important, with nothing/activities to shift your attention to. Focus, concentrate on your reading/studies. Take a break occasionally, especially when you are tired out. Our energy/attention span (differs individual to individual) can only lasts so long.

have a quiet, well lit space that is not too cold, or hot. Get a nice sturdy chair, and have a clean space, desk or table top will do just fine. If nothing else works, try buying some new school supplies. There's just something about new pencils and paper that make you want to get down and study. Also, and this may be hard, you may have to turn off the tv/computer/stereo. Some people are able to study while all this is going on, but most people keep checking their email or are too easily distracted by the other media. Most important, and this is crucial, block some time out for your studies. This means no phone calls or distractions, just you and your work. After 1 or 2 hours, take a break. You'll be surprised how much you can get done if you eliminate the distractions and get down to work

I have always found burning essential oils helps. Especially if you tend to study late at night. There are some mixes that you can buy that are designed specifically for studying and general alertness. They usually consist of a mix of Lemon, Rosemary, Rosewood and Basil. In that order from most to least. I hope that helps!
