They have direct access to call the fire brigade out, so they have the advantage of cutting out the middle man...them!

Well, I work for an ambulance company, and all medical 911 calls are forwarded from the county 911 dispatcher to our own dispatchers. I don't know about police type emergencies, but if one of our own was having a medical emergency, they would just get on the radio and get one of our ambulances to come over. I think that if something happened at the county 911 dispatcher's office, they would also just get on the radio, and call for the nearest unit to come over. It would be too funny if the 911 dispatcher called 911 and her call got taken by the person next to her!!!
If the county 911 dispatcher had to evacuate the building, I'm sure they would just forward calls to the police dispatcher, or one of the ambulance dispatchers (they work in different buildings). If my ambulance companies' dispatchers had to evacuate, they would just take the portable radio and set up operations outside (now that would be chaos!).
Hope this helps!

LOL! Never thought about this one! I guess one of them still call ambulance/fire brigade etc. But if it's a bad fire well i don't know. i guess they do what we're trained to do in case of fire? Evacuate!!! In their case they can't actually hope for a passer by to call 999 or 911 because ... They're out! LOL

what got me was i used topaint address numbers on curbs and the local fire station wonted me to put a number on there curb so the pizza man could see it he allways had trouble finding them at night. ,if something like that actually happened it probubly would be hard for them to find the place if they were just looking for a number.especially at night. make sure y'all have a number that can be seen at night for emergencys
