The volume of a cuboid (ie shape with all rectangular sides) is just height x length x width.
To get the surface area, work out the areas of each rectangular face (length x width) and add them together.

To calculate the surface area, times the length by the width.
And for volume, times the length by the width by the depth.

Volume can be calculated from area of the base multiplied by its height.Surface area can be calculated by calculating the area of the developed surface. The developed surface depends upon the shape of the solid body.

surface area of:
square and rectangle is L x W
Triangle is: 0.5 x (L x W) assuming one of the corner is 90 degree
Circle is: pi x r
to work out the volumn you just multiply it by the H
L = length
W = Width
r = radius
pi = 3.14
H = height

It would be nice if there were a single formula that worked for every shape, but there is not. You need to know what shape you are doing - a sphere, a cube, something else?
