Multiply it out: 6 x 10^9 * 8.79 x 10^5
First, mulitply out the first part of both numbers:
6 * 8.79 = 52.74 = 5.27 * 10^1

Now multiply out the exponents of 10:
10 ^9 * 10^5 * 10^1 = 10^(9+5+ 1) = 10^15

Put it together: 5.27 * 10^15 L

6,000,000,000 x 879,000 = 5,274,000,000,000,000 L
or 52.74 x 10^14 L
or
(6 x 10^9) x (8.79 x 10^5)
(6 x 8.79) x 10^14
52.74 x 10^14
