What was the actual reason of naming the band Deep Purple and Whats their best song ever?

Deep Purple is the name of a song by Peter De Rose and the band decided to use it for their name.

Best song: "Child in Time"

I like "Lazy" and "Highway Star" for the lead guitar parts.

I have no idea why they named themselved Deep Purple. I don't think I could even name anyone in the band.
