Fresh water ghost shrimp are rather small and male or female, a betta would try to eat it. Bettas can be kept in a community tank with fish similar in size such as Mollies, Gouramis, Angelfish, etc. You do always take a risk of any fish getting aggressive in a community tank but I've had great experiences with keeping Bettas with other fish. In fact, with the Betta's lovely tail, some fish are tempted to pick at it! Male Bettas are typically only aggressive with their fellow Bettas and fish smaller than them such as Tetras, Pencil Fish, certain breeds of Killifish, etc.

You can put a ghost shrimt with a betta under certain conditions. You absolutely cannot do it if you are keeping your betta in a bowl. Bettas have modified lungs and can breathe surface air, shrimp cannot.
If you are keeping your betta in a tank, you shouldn't have any problems--bettas are relatively slow swimmers and most likely wouldn't pay any attention to the ghost shrimp. If you are still concerned, make sure you buy the largest shrimp the pet store has--it will most likely be WAY too big for the betta to eat, even if he decided he wanted to.

You can try it, the ghost shrimp are cheap enough. I've kept some with bettas before. Just depends on the fish.

NO definitly not, bettas will attack anything that moves or looks alive, they will attack they're own reflection and plastic figures, I'm guessing you know that they are fighting fish and they do well ALONE if you have any questions that you are not sure about ask your local pet store associate that works with fish in petco or petsmart, they can provide you with information. Also ghost shrimp are fresh water...I have one myself =)

you can put them with females but wouldn't suggest putting them with males. I have a female and I do have ghost shrimp in the same tank.
