When I drive around (it doesn't matter what part of the U.S. I'm in) I occasionally see fairly large 5 pointed stars mounted on the front side of houses, usually over the garage door. Some are colored. I spent 8 years in the Military and they resemble a General's rank insignia. I was wondering if this was a symbol that they belong to some type of club like the Masons, etc... Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Bernie

In our neck of the woods it means they have a son or daughter serving in the military. Seriously does. Usually gold star on a blue background if that is what you mean.

It's just a fad. Someone told me they saw a home improvement show with a house that has a star on it, and it became a big fad. Doe's not symbolize anything as far as I know.

I have seen this question often in local publications. They are just deco. They have been in house deco stores in the past 6 months.
