I won’t reveal his religion other than to say he’s NOT a Christian. Wife has always clearly told husband from 1st meeting that she has a loving relationship with God without questionable, 1,000+ yr old books, etc. She NEVER drank but after 5 yrs of marriage she and a friend join a wine appreciation club. He goes ballistic, says she will “burn in hell” for drinking alcohol. He demands she quit the group and so, she does. She still has wine about once a week but NEVER where he would see/know. He finds out during a religious holiday that lasts for several weeks. They have custody of his 5 kids from his prior marriage and she’s a housewife. He tells her that he can no never give her money / let her use the car for his kids or herself b/c she “might buy wine and that’s against my religion”. She’s like “Huh?” Please tell who is being dogged in this situation, why and what should the dogged party do?

She is being treated as a child and worse property. This a a big problem with all religions. The books were written for men about men and not really much about God. I believe that God intended that men treat their mates as partners not property.
She is an indentured servant to a man with some other woman's children. Can you say divorce? Ironic that in some religions men can divorce by the statement of a phrase but women cannot get one.

It sound to me that he is very closed minded if he can't look at or tolerate other opinions. Religion should be a guide to help you understand the world around you but if it is used as absolutes then it had failed its purpose. I hope that there is a fine thread of truth hidden in all the religion's of the world and it is our job to find the thread. As for people who can't find the truth burn in whatever they believe in. I think that god just shakes the head claiming they just don't get it!!!!
