My thought is that they shouldn't, for two reasons.
1. It opens the door for boys who get cut from the boys team to try out on a girls team, thus removing the integrety of the league.
2. If the girls are particularily talented, then they should be allowed to be stand out players on the girls team, and by doing so increase the standard of play and improving the game in the long run. College scouts, etc would also notice a stand out girl dominating their high school league more so than a girl playing on the boys team.

No. If there isn't a girls team, the school allows them to try out for the boys team. If you're talking about the recent case about the twin girls being allowed to try out for the hockey team, then here is my opinion. These girls are selfish and they think they are better than other people. The argument about the girl's team not being "competitive enough" is something that the twins should have taken up with the coach.
I really agree with your second point. I know this isn't highschool, but in freestyle skiing, Kari Traa made the top 20 in a trial with the men. Sure, she could have competed witih the men, but she pushed the women into trying bigger more difficult tricks and have brought freestyle skiing for women into the forefront (or however forefront freesyle skiing will be).
P.S. Michelle, Anaka and Kari were all invited to compete with the men, so that's different.

Yah I will never understand this either, if a girl can play on a boys team, why can't a boy play on a girl's team? Girl's should stick to girl sports, such as hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing, and such and such.

I think that girls have absolutely no business playing on boys teams. But there will always be attention starved people who have to get that attention by causing a conflict. The bad thing is that then they become members of these teams(where guys will be guys) and scream sexual harrassment b/c Billy and Joe were in the back of the bus comming back from a game talking about their sexual endeavors, all of a sudden everyone has to cater to their needs...ofcourse others act out their lack of attention by becoming the high school human pin cusion...In conclusion, if i had a daughter i think i would rather her play footbal.

It doesnt work that way. Boys are not permitted to tryout for girls teams. No matter what. A boy cut from the baseball team is not permitted to tryout for the girls softball team. Girls who chose to play baseball instead of softball can tryout for boys baseball.

Its a double standard that should not exist. Either all sports are open to all people or boys and girls sports should stay separate.

No. There is no sexist complaint here either. If a girl's team is offered, she needs to play with the girls. (Equal opportunity-a team for each sex.) The only sports in which the sexes can compete on equal footing are competitive shooting, archery and maybe bowling. The whole "girls should be allowed" fiasco, I believe was started by some nazi-feminist charge of discrimination by the ACLU.

No! I do agree that girls can do the sports that boys do, but I also think if there is a girls team for that sport offered, that's where they need to be. Yeah, Yeah, I being a girl agree in todays world, girls are equal, but I do think there are limits. Girls teams, Boys teams, lets not take everything away from the guys....Take care!

I think that girls and boys should be allowed to play on each other's teams if there isn't one for their gender, but if there is one, you should be on the team for your gender. Of course, there are exceptions, but I think for the most part, this is what people should do. :)

they should not be allowed to try out for the boys team unless the boys are allowed to try out for the girls team.

I dont think so...the boys would be too strong for her and probably rough since they'd feel invaded. If there's already a girl team-they would only be doing it for a statement-and I hate that.Everyone deserves rights but I hate people who search for ways to prove they are being jipped when their not.

no, It is so obvious that men are superior to women in a lot of sports. Kobe bryant or shaq would do a number on the women in wnba. And lets not get started on the other sports. If it something like golf then yes or tennis but not basketball, football, rugby, wrestling(especially wrestling) or any sport that requires a great amount of strength
