Smell is particulate. As the bubbles pass through the water, some of the odour particles will dissolve, meaning that the composition of the gas is different by the time it reaches the air.

It is because the methane gas has nowhere to disperse till it hits the surface, then the shape of the bath localises the gas, this results in a much stronger smell whichonce it gets past the surface disperses into the bath area for a while before dispersing into the athmosphere

Oh you swine ! I personally always get out of the bath before I let one rip or am I strange ? so I have no idea what you mean ! sorry but one thing that worries me is that so many people are so well versed on farting in the bath and it makes me a bit concerned that by getting out of the bath I am abnormal !!

when you release gas it is a mixture of various waste products that have turned into gaseous states. as they pass through the water the prevalent gas ch4 or methane goes through an ion exchange with the water and other ch4s creating ethane which has a slightly different odor.
