I have searched on Amazon.co..uk for Roots and V (80s Sci-Fi Series) on DVD but they don't seem to have it in stock even through third parties. Where else can I get them at a reasonable price?

It might be worth actually going in to a high street store as I'm sure I've seen Roots quite often included in sales.

Try eBay.com I have been selling and buying on the site for over 5 years, and there is not to many things I have not been able to find.

try amazon.com if u want to actually buy it but theres a site called bitlord that u can download the software and ripp movies and shows for free .....bitlord
