I will need a colonoscopy again in a few years. I pay all my doctor expenses out of pocket. Is Mexico an option and how do I research where to go in Mexico?

I have no insurance and do not want to buy insurance because I think insurance is a huge scam.

well, here is the thing about mexico's health care system.

they do have the best of the best there too. but the problem is that you will have to pay almost as much as in the STATES for it. And in some cases even more.

Here is the skinny. if you do decide to go, make very sure its a reputable place. Make sure that many USA customers have gone there and had a good experience. Preferable from people you know. You will get better prices there for great care but you must do your homework.

also remember, in USA you also get no guarentees that the procedure will be without complications. they make you sign a paper here in the US that basically says if you die and it was not negligence on their part, then your familly cant sue.

so you can even die here in the USA. If you die in Mexico, at least burrials are cheap there too.

Excellent services, very good doctors and high technology hospitals. You can get most services half of its prices in the US.

My advice research thru the Internet and ask other Americans for their experience so that you get a good hospital and doctor at a nice price (there are a few hospitals that may be more expensive than the US, and it's not necessarily because they're better but because they are located in high socio-economical areas)

Try Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey, Gaudalajara.

Mexico has quality care and the prices are right. Most people (gringos) that use the medical care here ... live here. They learn thru experience and from friends where are the better places to go. There are a number of hospitals in Manzanillo that we use but flights here are more expensive than other major cities.

If insurance is such a scam, you would not have any qualms about paying the cash price for your procedure locally.

Mexico might be cheaper but they do not have the same level of technology, doctors, skills, etc. You get what you pay for.
