I've been to Egypt--had a great time there. There are tons of things to see--the pyramids at Giza, Karnak and Luxor, valley of the kings, Aswan high dam. take a boat ride on the Nile and visit the museum in Cairo...
The people are great, too--I cut my foot open on the sidewalk when I was there, gushing blood all over Cairo. I had a couple of Egyptians help me first to a pharmacy for a bandage, then to the hospital for stitches... It was a memorable experience to say the least!

BE careful in egypt.
I've been there I was fortunate to find someone my age that wasn't trying tohustle me. Be wary of any man trying to "help" you to where you want to go. Even if they seem to be just some stranger off the street going his or her own way. These are usually store runners that lure you into there story to by something. Some even offer advice, "No my friend your going down the wrong street it is this way I'll show you. Come on..." "Or your trying to get to the pyramids, I'm going there too. You can come along with me..." then they usually huslte you in some back alley tourist trap so you can ride camels and horses for 170 Euro. Some of them will even sound like legitiate people with badge and everything. "I am from the department of board and tourism here in Egypt do you have a hotel?" Right off the plane. :-( When poeple offer you taxis or anything for that matter its usually customry to go half the pric that they request. Taxis should not cost you more than 60 egyptian pounds like ten US dollars from the airport to downtown. You can also take the bus. Which is pretty shady not the termianl bus but the public station buss thats in from of the airport. it cost like 50 pastries. But there is no bus stops and the bus is usually movign as it rounds stops so you literally have to jump off and on. Make sure you get a map with both ENGLISH AND ARABIC on the same text on the map. I bought a 45 dollars map nicly made written in English with all landmarks. But when I got there everything was written in Arabic even the numbers so I was screwed wanderig around in the night in the middle of cairo with no reference and a 45 dollars peice of c r a p map hand. I was pissed. If you are a woman its kinda hard. You can't really hustle very much. If you are with a man you are treated way better. Sorry . There back about a thousand years as far as treating woman. Have cloths that cover your wrist and hair you don't have to worry about your face. But a nice gownd that covers your whole body. Believe me its either getting bad unwanted attention or just disappearing into the crowd. If I was a woman I would prefer the latter. I rember some girl that was wearing "american cloths where you could see her shoulders and she was groped and badged the whole time walking down the street she would scream and no one would listen. "she should have known better" as an arabic man had stated when I asked him what that was all about. Oh yeah when you speak to men don't look them in the eye. It says either two things you either like them in an intimate way or you are wh or e. I know all this stuff may sound bad but its a great country to visit. You stepped back in time. Make sure to get your shots. A lot of people say teh waters bad to drink I find that B.S. My fend that I met said the water is good. Its just so heavily cloronated that it is beyond peoples taste. So you can stick with bottled water. But I was there the whole time drinking the water even straight form the tap never got sick. but who knows. When you get near the pyramids there are some guys that lure around them on camels and say would you like to get on a camel we will take a picture with your camera. You get on they take the picture and then they say "100 pounds Or I won't let you down." And since camels are pretty high you cant very well get off and his accomplise has your camera on a different camel. So the key work, "La" which means no. or "La shukran" no thank you. Or "imshee" kind of like get lost.good luck travel lightly and stay sharp

I have been there and I loved a country so much. I was hoping to see a camel though but I didn't see it. I have never seen a camel in my life so I really felt bad for not seeing it. I think Egypt is a great country.

I am in love with that part of the world. Go before peace and prosperity break out an everyone goes. The food is superb. if you do go, try the fresh juice, skewer grilled meat, koshri (lentils ,rice chick peas, macaroni, and spicy tomato sauce), and om mali ( sort of bread pudding). try to go to places off the beaten path, like the pyramid of meidum. one of my favorite places is a market in Aswan. it con sits mainly of fish canneries and spice shops, but anything from flip flops, to steal wool, to meat can be purchased from myriad vendors. people jostle for space with mopeds and an occasional car. the unpleasant smell of fish and lye mingles with incense and the fragrance of innumerable herbs in every shade imaginable piled in front of the rickety booths.
