Sorry if this offends anyone but im really intrigued to know.. or is chemistry between two people purely based on physical attraction?

So how strong a part does physical attraction play? People who im not attracted to now but find intellectually fascinating - would my feelings change if I were to go blind/ if i was already blind?

Actually, the sense of smell is even stronger than sight when it comes to chemistry. They (you know; THEY) have proven that what attracts us to the opposite sex is the odor our bodies emit.
So even if you find someone attractive physically, if they don't have that smell that works with you, it won't work at all.

And then, there is also the idea of being attrated to someone on an intellectual level.

My husband might not be attractive to you, per se, but I find him sexy because of his smelll and brain.
And the smell is not always apparent.

It's like a musk, or pheremones (SP?), that we emit.

So, if what the say is true, that if you lose one sense your others get stronger, well, blind people can probably find a mate easier than we sighted can! Lucky buggers :)

Good question
you can fall in love, with someone,
whether you can see them or not ,
When you are blind ,
your other senses are very much enhanced.........
Hearing, smell , touch , and sexual feelings as well ..
eg.
a lovely voice , can attract some one ,who cannot see
hold hands,
you will soon know,
if you like or love a certain persons touch

A kiss, is just as good or even better, if you cant see the person you are kissing .

All, in all ,i would say being blind, should not stop you
from "sparking off" ,that special feeling .
with ONE of ,the opposite sex .,
that is certainly there .!!!

I have known, several really happy marriages,
where one or both partners were visually disabled .

Physical attraction, is not merely ,visible attraction , but a host of other senses in addition .

I would say definitely yes and possibly better in some respects. Sight is only one of the 5 senses and in the blind the other senses are or become more acute to compensate. Imagine not being influenced by the physical and discovering a person through touch, smell, taste and the sound of their voice. Try blindfolding yourself and get your partner to stimulate you in the way they normally do and see if your reaction is changed. By the way do you close your eyes when kissing? Visual impairment is not sensual impairment.

I personally take no offense, as I'm "sighted" though admittedly Blind in many instances,,, Aldara you get it,,,yes?

Not to offend you,,,but if sight was the only sense any of us used when Attraction happens, it might be a very shalloow or narrow relationship.

Certainly SEEING someone has advantages,,,sometimes, but I sooooooooooooooo enjoy "touch, smell, taste, and the sounds made in an encounter"

Yes they do. Not just with people of the opposite sex. my friend who is gay has been going out with a blind man for the past 4 years. they both met on the internet and neither of them had seen each other before they met but were instantly attracted to each other. if my friend felt a chemical reaction to this guy then his partner did the same thing

Blind people still have a sense of touch and smell, touch and scent are huge turn ons for most people so in my opinion it is logical that blind people would definitely experience chemistry.

I am sure the blind experience chemistry. Maybe they even have an advantage over seeing people in so much as they are not taken in by good looks, but by character.

Why not? The chemistry between two people isn't based just in the people's look, the voice, the smell, the laugh, the comfy feeling and more and more are also very important.

well, I suppose that you would not have the eye contact, but lot of sexual attraction is based unconsciously on smell. And there are a thousand other ways to display and start chemistry, a laugh, a silken voice, an idle sensual touch... but as I said, I suppose that they would be missing out a one part of the game of flirtation and seduction

Common sense tells me the answer is yes. However, not being blind I'm not sure my answer will stand up. I've put this question on my watch list as I think it is an interesting question.
